Studio brief 2 | Glyphs

To expand on my alphabet. I began exploring symbols/glyphs. I tried to create the main glyphs used in everyday type. I found it particularly difficult to create the glyphs due to the shapes of the symbols. I chose to not create my alphabet in lowercase because the letterforms didn't look quite right following my rules. It was difficult to fill space and still have the letterform readable.
For many of the glyphs, following my rules was fairly easy. For example, brackets, full stops and colons are are basic shapes and were naturally geometric. However others were particularly difficult such as the pound sign. To achieve the best results I could, I increased the weight of the stoke on the letters to increase the occupation of space. I filled in what spaces I  could without reducing the readability. I feel there are still some minor improvements needed such as small errors in the lines where the shape isn't perfect.  My next step is to go back and refine these errors and potentially see how I can make the pound sign and other symbols flow with the other letterforms.
