I found the presentation fairly difficult to create due to a misunderstanding in the brief. I had thought that all 100 items needed to be within the presentation including all 20 facts, statistics etc. This made creating a 2 minute presentation very difficult as it is a large amount of information to condense down. Fortunately, I had time before to very quickly edit down my presentation to show the more important elements.
I deleted the whole section of my presentation on Go Penguins as this was only extra information. I deleted a photo slide so that the better photos were featured, as previously the presentation had featured so many photos of Lambananas that it became fairly boring.
I was originally going to talk over my presentation to fit in all my facts and statistics, however, I only spoke about the elements featured on each slide.
Although my presentation appears long, the content on each slide is only small. I felt this was appropriate to keep the audience interested during my presentation, rather than overloading them with information.
Below is the presentation I created-
I began with photographs of the original sculpture which I photographed. Therefore the audience can understand the subject.
I followed this with some rather confused opinions about the sculpture itself- which I feel summarises many reactions. I made these slides plainer than the rest to illustrate this confused reaction.
It then seemed appropriate to explain the meaning behind the sculpture which isn't clear at first glance.
I created a vector image by tracing one of the photographs I gathered. This meant I was able to clearly write the facts about the sculpture around the image. I felt that a photograph would have been too distracting. It is also much easier on the eye to use a simpler vector form.
There seemed to be mixed opinions about the sculpture so I presented the negative opinions first.
This naturally led onto describing how the sculpture was once vandalised...however it has been painted colours to represent different charities.
After giving some background information, I was then able to talk about the collection of Go Superlambanana sculptures.
This collection of statistics allowed me to illustrate the scale of the operation.
The names of the Superlambananas are all really interesting, so this fitted into my words research quite nicely.
I then explained what happened to the lambananas after the Capital of Culture event- which was that they were auctioned off to many other places.
I spoke about the most expensive Lambanana and showed photos which explained why it may have sold for more.
I then showed a few more photos of Lambananas to give my audience a feel for the sculptures.
I myself felt that it was sad that they are no longer dotted around the city, but only a few remain. Many people shared my opinion so I shared this with the group.
There is much debate about the best superlambanana, since there are so many to choose from. I showed photos of a few of the supposed favourites.
In contrast to my slide showing the more negative opinions, I finished off my presentation explaining why everyone loves them really!
