SOLUTION
My response to my written brief is to create a series of coffee cups that all feature different illustrations of Go Superlambananas - some cups or branding may include patterns. My branding will encourage people to collect these and get excited about them! I will give information in the form of one or two sentences explaining what the Superlambananas are/where they are. (therefore the aim of my product is to INFORM).There is the potential to create a rare limited edition cup which could be desirable to collectors.
The coffee itself will have a Banana flavoured syrup to represent the SuperlamBANANA. I am considering using salted caramel flavour to represent the docks - perhaps this could be a hot chocolate.
I feel that my colour scheme for the branding should be similar to my booklet yellow (to represent the first sculpture) and blue (to represent the docks).
My target audience is all those who do not know about the sculptures, so anyone outside of Liverpool, aimed at teenagers upwards both genders as coffee can only be drunk from this age. However I could create another product such as a banana flavoured milkshake to reach this target audience. Although, the parents can still show children the coffee cups.
The tone of voice of my product needs to be playful and excitable to hopefully make the customer feel the same and echo the feel of the sculptures themselves.
From my research I have liked the ideas of creating interactive cups- I want to include stickers somehow and maybe a design your own cup too as drawing on cups was a creative theme found in my research.
POTENTIAL BRANDED ITEMS
-coffee cup
-coffee cup sleeve
-plastic cups (for milkshakes)
-paper bags
-cup holders
-loyalty cards
-mugs
-stickers (could be used for packaging cakes)
-logo itself
-cake packaging
-advertisement for products
INTERIM CRITIQUE
After presenting my current idea to the group, they first asked about where it would be sold. I explained that I felt it best suited galleries and museums as this is where people interested in sculpture are most likely to be. It was suggested that it could be sold in the TATE Cafe, as this is one of the most popular art galleries.I was then asked whether it was to be sold just in Liverpool or nationally. I expressed that people already know about it in Liverpool, and that my problem is that people outside of this area don't know about it! Therefore, I plan for it to be sold nationally to inform people about it in other areas and therefor encourage them to visit.
One student suggested that I could link in the fact that some of the money from a second auction of the sculptures went charity. For example, money from the coffee could go to the same charities or otherwise support those which grow the coffee.
The final suggestion I received was to maybe create tourist advertising in Liverpool or otherwise to encourage tourists to visit the sculptures. I feel this idea is ok but I prefer my idea to create coffee.
